Time is running out to join my 6-week writing class starting 2/1

Come and join me every Wednesday for six weeks starting 2/1 at The Writing Barn for, “Comic Book Writing: From First Draft to Final Pitch in Six Weeks”

In this six-week intensive study of comic books and the comic book industry we will discuss what it takes to develop your comic book from start to finish, from first draft to final pitch. After completing this course you will discover your own super power of transferring the ideas in your head to the pages of Marvel, DC, or other publishers of comics and graphic novels.

Topics we’ll cover:

  • Character Development
  • World Building
  • Scripting
  • Collaboration
  • The business of comics
  • Pitching your story

Be sure to bring a web ready device and be ready to write. We’ll be starting your comic book script in class.

Who Should take this course:

  • Writers interested in creating sequential art narratives (comic books, comic strips, graphic novels, etc.)
  • Writers of all genres
  • Writers interested in applying comics writing skills to other forms of writing (brief dialogue, visual storytelling, implied action, etc.)

HERE’S WHAT PEOPLE HAD TO SAY ABOUT MY class AT THE WRITING BARN:

“The Writing Barn’s workshop, Secret Origins: How to Write Comics and Graphic Novels, was a BLAST! Paul’s teaching style was incredibly fun and interactive–I felt right at home as an avid comic book reader and lover! Not only did he clearly explain the comic book making process and the players involved, but he also provided great anecdotes and advice about what it’s like to work in the comic book industry. Even though I initially signed up for the workshop with no expectations of making my own work, I am excited to start exploring writing my own comics in Paul’s upcoming series. If you’ve toyed with the idea of writing your own comics, or you already write and would like to share and receive feedback in a fun and welcoming environment, I highly recommend working with Paul and the Writing Barn.”
“Mr. Benjamin is a dynamic teacher. His insights on finding inspiration, the creative process, the state of the industry and nerd culture would be interesting to any fan of visual story telling.”
